2013 Mercedes-Benz SL 500 with custom body kit by Lorinser

Lorinser is bringing to Essen Motor Show a 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL 500 with custom body kit and power boost. By reprogramming the ECU they were able to increase the output of the 4.7-liter V8 engine from 435 HP (320 kW) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) to 530 HP (390 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm). Lorinser can remove the top speed limiter which will enable the SL 500 to reach 174 mph (280 km/h). It rides on a new set of 20-inch RSK8 alloys wrapped around in 255/30 R20 front and 295/25 R20 rear tires. The aerodynamic changes include wider front and rear bumpers, a rear decklid spoiler, custom side skirts, different nose, rear diffuser, together with a sports exhaust system with four end pipes. Lorinser's lowering kit allows the driver to manually lower the center of gravity for the versions fitted with the Active Body Control (ABC) system, resulting in a sportier feeling while driving. On the inside there are various parts that can get a carbon, wood or aluminum finish.

 Press release:

Bespoke options for the Mercedes Benz SL 500 – Sportservice Lorinser shows their class once again in their  refinements to luxury cars.
A standard Mercedes-Benz SL 500 (R231) is already among the classiest and most  sporty cars on our roads, but the customised two seater from Lorinser almost makes it look plain. From the bodywork which is designed to reduce lift, to the powerful performance upgrades and the striking light-alloy wheels, the specialists from the southern German town of Waiblingen have shown their dedication to almost every aspect of the luxury car, and made their exclusive clientele’s automobile dreams a  reality.

„Form follows function“ – this dictates how Lorinser have balanced the individual components of the SL 500 aerodynamics package. The result is impressive styling with optimised air flow and additional downforce which allows faster cornering. At the same time, the top-end convertible scores well with its striking good looks and is
clearly positioned above its little brother the SLK. With this in mind, the shape of the convertible is enhanced by a new front with large air inlets and a new grill.
From nose to tail, striking side skirts ensure design is consistent throughout, and make the SL look lower and longer. Wider front bumpers and extensions to the rear bumpers extend the sides. In order to reduce lift at the rear, the Sportservice engineers have developed a rear decklid spoiler, available either painted to match the car or carbon
look, as well as an attractive rear with built in diffuser. This gives the rear of the car an extra sporty look, and expertly sets the scene for the 4 end pipes of the Lorinser sports exhaust.

20 Inch light-alloy RSK8 wheels keep you firmly on the road, together with 255/30R20 front tyres and 295/25R20 rear tyres. The three part forged wheel with its seven spokes and stainless steel bolts looks really convincing due to the classy look of the anodised surface and outstanding finish. The design combines agility and elegance, and sits perfectly under the wheel arches. Lorinser recommends using the high performance tyres from its technology partner
Continental.

The lowering kit from Lorinser really sets the alloy wheels off. This makes it possible to lower manually the centre of gravity on cars equipped with the ex works ABC (ActiveBodyControl) system, which increases the sporty feel when driving. The customer can set and save their desired height (higher or lower). The system uses controls on the steering wheel, and the „Lorinser“ indicator appears on the multi function control panel. Connection to the car’s electronics system (CAN) even means the headlight settings adjust independently according to the height. A high end monitoring system ensures the system adjusts independently and un-noticed by the driver as speed increases (from around 50km/h), so that all functionality is maintained.

The refinements to the SL 500 aren’t just sporty, it has something to offer under the bonnet too from the V8-Motor of the Mercedes-Benz SL 500 (4,7l, 320KW/435 hp at 5.250 1/min, 700 Nm at 1.700 – 3.500 1/min) the Sportservice engineers get 390KW/ 530hp at 5.600 1/min and maximum torque at 800 Nm from 1.700 to 3.800
revolutions. This is made possible by a newly programmed ECU with increased bi –turbo boost. With this increase in the power and sound to match, the Lorinser SL 500 can reach a regulated top speed of 280kmh. If a customer wants to drive their SL 500 faster than the factory limited 250kmh without enhancements to performance, Lorinser offers the option of an increase in top speed limiter. Lorinser recommend a speedometer with extended top speed range for either version.
The Sportservice offers an instrument cluster with a Lorinser logo on the dial, and a scale which goes up to 320kmh. To complement the existing ex-works interior options, Lorinser can supply accessories in fine aluminium, wood, or carbon look. On request, there is everything to make your heart beat faster – from personalised floor mats to full leather interior, all hand-made with the highest possible level of attention to detail.
