Brabus is bringing its latest tuning program for the 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG to Essen Motor Show. The standard bi-turbo V8 5.5-liter engine of the high performance SUV
produces 518 hp (386 kW) and a peak torque of 516 lb-ft (699 Nm). With
the Brabus treatment, the power unit generates 611 hp (456 kW) and 604
lb-ft (820 Nm) of torque, enough for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in
4.5 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 186 mph (300
km/h). Brabus is also offering a power upgrade for the version with the
optional AMG Performance Package that in its stock configuration
delivers 550 hp (410 kW) and 560 lb-ft (758 Nm). Power is increased to
the same 611 hp and 604 lb-ft. This additional horsepower was made possible by installing a custom
stainless steel sport exhaust system and integrating the Brabus
PowerXtra module into the engine electronics. They also created front
and rear carbon fiber spoilers for reducing lift on both axles. A custom control module for the AIRMATIC suspension is available that
lowers the SUV's center of gravity and improves handling. Five wheel
designs are offered in sizes of up to 23 inches with high-performance
tires.
