Dinan Engineering has released an aftermarket program for the BMW 550i in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive variants. The main attraction of this kit is the uprated V8 4.4-liter TwinPower
engine which now develops 542 HP (398 kW) and 587 lb-ft (795 Nm) of
torque, up from the series 400 HP (294 kW) and 450 lb-ft (609 Nm). This
was done via tuner's own larger intercoolers and turbochargers, along
with a further tuned exhaust system, ECU remapping and a carbon fiber
high-flow intake.
As a result of these modifications, the BMW 550i by Dinan Engineering
can hit a top speed of more than 200 mph (322 km/h). Other changes
include negative camber front control arms, low compliance rear control
arms and bespoke lowering springs. Optionally available are Dinan's
lightweight forged wheels, Brembo braking system, limited-slip
differential, as well as carbon fiber front fascia, mirrors and rear
spoiler. Dinan Engineering offers a 4-year / 50,000-mile warranty for its upgrade kit.
