Brabus is infusing more power in the Smart ForTwo, ForTwo Cabriolet, and ForFour models just in time for the Beijing Auto Show.
We saw the coupe and four-door version exactly two months ago while the cars were conducting a photo shoot,
and now all three versions are being presented in official pics. You
can tell this is a Brabus-tuned version by the beefier front bumper and a
matte grey rear diffuser insert with a chrome trim for the dual exhaust
tips.
All three of them ride on matte Monoblock lightweight alloy wheels
provided by Brabus in different sizes. The ForTwo Coupe and Cabrio get
16-inch front & 17-inch rear with 185/50 R 16 H and 205/40 R 17 H
tires, respectively. The more practical ForFour has 17-inch rims on both
axles teamed up with 185/45 R 17 H front and 205/40 R 17 rear rubbers.
Brabus worked its magic and managed to squeeze an extra 7 horsepower
(5 kilowatts) and 17 pound-feet (23 newton meters) from the turbocharged
0.9-liter, three-cylinder engine. It now churns 109 hp (80 kW) at 5,750
rpm and 125 lb-ft (170 Nm) at 2,000 rpm which is enough to enable the ForTwo Coupe
and Cabrio hit 62 mph (100 kph) from a standstill in 9.5 seconds before
maxing out at 102.5 mph (165 kph). The slightly heavier ForFour is
slower in the sprint (10.5 seconds), but comes with a higher top speed
(at 111.8 mph / 180 kph).
Aside from adding more power and making the body look more butch,
Brabus has installed a firmer performance sports suspension and tweaked
the ESP. In addition, the Smart trio has a quicker six-speed,
dual-clutch gearbox featuring a Race Start function to enable the best
possible acceleration performance.
Brabus is asking €19,710 for the ForTwo Coupe in Germany, €22,970 if you want the ForTwo Cabrio, and €20,520 for the ForFour.
Those willing to spend more can get the cars in the new Xclusive trim
which brings perforated Nappa leather/black leather upholstery with
grey topstitching as well as special floor mats and badges. In addition,
the cars receive a leather/fabric-wrapped instrument panel, a Brabus
rev counter and cockpit clock, along with heated front seats, LED &
Sensor package, and a ForFour-only removable cargo box.
The added goodies brought by the Xclusive trim increase the starting
price to €22,710 (ForTwo Coupe), €25,970 (ForTwo Cabrio), and €23,520
(ForFour).
The three pocket rockets are celebrating their public debuts today at
the Beijing Auto Show and will arrive in European dealerships this
July.
